Avjobs Weekly proudly begins its week long video reports from the World's largest annual aviation gathering - EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
For more than 50 years, the event has offered the very best in sport, business and commercial aviation. The first gathering was in September 1953 as a small part of the Milwaukee (Wis.) Air Pageant. That original EAA fly-in at Wright-Curtis (now Timmerman) Field was attended by a handful of airplanes, mostly homebuilt and modified aircraft. Fewer than 150 people registered as visitors.
Today's show features an attendance of 650,000 people coming from 70 nations and some 10,000 aircraft from every state and many other countries. More than 800 commercial exhibitors and hundreds of aircraft are on display as well. There's nothing like it in the world -- It's part air show, part trade show, part educational workshop. Welcome to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh!
